WCG 2005: European Case Modding Show Hypercube² by Jounge

Project Name: Hypercube²
Build time: 8 months, 800-1000 hours
Materials used: Stainless steel, Aluminum, White and transparent plexi
Website: http://www.g-2.be/hyper

bit-tech: How long have you been involved in Modding? Have you made any cases before this one?
Jounge: Actually this is my first real case. I had a little practice on a bought case, but actually it’s not worth mentioning. So I started modding in July 2003.

bit-tech: What inspired you to make this particular case?
Jounge: I wanted to make my own custom case because I was bored with all my beige ATX cases, and because my profession as an Architect, I tried to make something design and unique. Hypercube the movie inspired me because of the great design of space. (And no, I didn’t like the movie that much)

bit-tech: Tell us more about this case: what makes it special? What are its unique features?
Jounge: The dimensions of the case are based on a Micro ATX mobo, and everything is build around it. This makes the case 274 x 274x 274 mm.
The case has a core that houses almost all the important parts of the PC : PSU, Rheobus, Hard drives, all the connections for fans and LEDs...On the front there is a Rheobus that controls the lighting and fans, a 1.8" TFT screen and a slotload DVD-ROM. Next to the case, I also modded an Apple Keyboard, a very standard mouse and a TFT with touch screen, which I like to call "Hyperscreen"

bit-tech: How did you get to Cebit 2005? How were you selected for this competition?
Jounge: http://www.casejunkies.nl

bit-tech: What is your prediction for this competition? Name your Top 3
Jounge:
<ol><li>Aqua PC</li><li>LAN Truck</li><li>Coldfusion</li></ol>
bit-tech: What plans do you have for the future?
Jounge: I always have plans for the future. It’s hard to decide what to do first. But at the moment I am working on something very different and I think it’s almost time to show it to the world.

bit-tech: And finally, what is your favourite Case Mod / Modder of all time?
Jounge: That’s a difficult one after seeing all these great mods here at Cebit. I think I have to put Mark Voser in my list of favorite modders next to Piloux, G-gnome, and Zapwizard.
